The Hard & The Soft: Exploring the Space Between Holding On and Letting Go
A 3-Hour Practice + Inquiry with Amy Pearce-Hayden
Saturday, May 9th 2026, 1-4pm
What does it mean to stay present in intensity and equally available to ease? This workshop explores the dynamic relationship between effort and release, strength and surrender, abhyasa and vairagya. Together, we’ll move through a practice that alternates between longer-held, more challenging postures (2–3 minutes) and deeply supportive, restorative rests (4–5 minutes). This rhythm is designed to create a space to observe how we meet both intensity and rest; not just physically, but mentally and emotionally.
Rather than avoiding discomfort or clinging to ease, we will explore: * How we respond when things get hard * How we receive moments of support * Where we hold, and where we let go
Woven throughout the practice are moments of reflection and simple philosophical inquiry, offering a framework for understanding how these patterns show up both on and off the mat. This is a practice of contrast, awareness, and integration—an opportunity to refine your capacity to remain steady through both effort and ease.

The Year of You: Summer Solstice – Experiencing Joy
The 3rd Workshop in a series with Anne Adametz – author of “Guidance from Within”
How do you know when you’re sick? You don’t feel well. How do you know when you’re well? You feel good – a symptom of this is joy. Joy comes from many places – which we’ll explore – especially through intentionally prioritizing and experiencing it. Summer is the season of joy. When joy is out of balance, it becomes mania – too much, overwhelmed, scattered, overcommitted, not in control. When joy is in balance, it feels expansive, grounded, connected, alive, steady. Not experiencing as much joy as you would love to? Why not join us and create space for joy on purpose? Explore meaningful experiences for yourself. Explore mental, physical, and spiritual openings and practices – while protecting white space. Heart openers. Breathing techniques. Plenty of interaction and above all learning to let go.
Joy is a practice. Come practice it.

First impressions matter! When I walked in, I was greeted warmly, found the peace I was seeking in the practice, and left with yummy smelling essential oils. Having moved to Cottage Grove from a large city, I found the sense of community within Kula to be inclusive and KIND. ❤️
